I will play one team on the futures and take a shot with them.

I'm going with

Argentina at 9-1

to win it all.:toast:. They have as much of a chance as any other contenders.

Best of luck.

argie is a waste of money. maradona doesn't have a clue what he is doing and will basically ask messi to do it himself, which will never happen. i'm actually predicting (and betting) they don't get out their fairly easy group. saw them many times in qualies and they have no idea how to play as a team and even individually look confused.

Their World Cup group seems fairly easy and South American football is very well seen, at least in Europe. However, very few matches in the World Cup ended with such scores... I'm confident they can beat any of their group members with 2 maybe 3-0, but 9? I wouldn't bet on that...

i absolutely love the talent that the albiceleste put on the pitch...but i have i have 2 agree with rolltide here...that fat cokehead coach has thrown over 100 players onto the pitch in qualifiers...great player he WAS-horrible mngr. he IS...how can you play a laid back style with such talent as tevez, milito, messi on the field at the same time?...does maradona watch barca and man city play?...i can see how it would be aggravating to the fans of this squad....and 9-1 aint the best odds

he is not talking about scores of 9-1 by argentina...he is talking about the odds of them to win the world cup..which are 9-1....it literally took me like 20 mins. to figure out what you were saying...hope it's all clear now..cheers...and go oranj

Yep, I was talking odds, Its tough to win 9-1 in Soccer LOL unless it is a complete mismatch, but since all the teams qualified that would be more unlikely although I wouldn't completely rule it out in other matchups.

Thanks for the comments guys. I hear ya.

I do like the talent level here, but as some mentioned the coach needs to bring them together. Brazil and Spain are the chalk odds-wise which is too low for me and then it is England, Germany, Netherlands, Italy (I wasn't really high on those four teams so I went with Argentina) If I played a team with bigger odds (20-1) then I thought my chances of cashing will diminish so I played somebody in the second-tier odds-wise like any futures. Should be a good World Cup. Hopefully, somebody here on the forum will win it (futures-wise). Best of luck.

I now have Argentina, Spain, and Portugal as my longshot

I got Argentina a few weeks ago at 9-1
I have Spain at 4-1
I have Portugal at 25-1

Payouts are all around the same for each

I went deep into the barrios of Atlanta and talked to some of my Mexican friends who are soccer fantatics. They convinced me Spain was the way to go and that they are better than Brazil despite being co-favorites. They told me my Argentina play was great talent (especially forwards), but the coach is shaky as you guys said here. My longshot Portugal I threw in there because I was with a Portuguese-American woman recently LOL, she was pretty hot so I rolled with it LOL plus Cristiano Ronaldo might step it up along with others

Best of luck

Maradona does appear to outdo Dummynech. Some shock results in CONMEBOL qualifiers. His WC backline is a mess. No Riquelme.

Lots of controversy with Argentina. Riquelme is not on because he refuses to play.
The president of the AFA (Asociacion de Futbol Argentina) is this maffioso guy called Grondona. He has done nothing but evil to everything related to Argentinean soccer.
Maradona is just friends with this idiot, therefore he got the job.
Lets not forget many players are against this president (and against Maradona too), and have therefore refused to be part of the squad.
Riquelme would be an asset to the team, as he would give the team the right pace as well as confidence.
Other players in the team are favoured because of this mafia and the "i know him" kind of thing.
Look at players like Heinze.... this man was good 3 years ago, but he is TERRIBLE now. He does NOT deserve even a substitute spot on the team. Look at Aguero!, he has not been performing as well as he has been for the few years, does he deserve a spot or is he in because Maradona's daughter is engaged to him?
Thank god for players like Tevez and Messi, who get recruited because they simply can't excuse not having them on. Lets hope they can bring the cup home.

less than a week away, it's almost showtime

Let's go Spain, Argentina, or Portugal to WIN IT ALL

Spain------they can definitely do this, ignore World Cup history

Argentina----lots of talent and then more talent, Maradona may not be the best coach around, but every coach from a brand name soccer team will get crucified with any slip-up anyway since the media are the masters of blowing everything up,
just look at Real Madrid and see how many coaches they go through despite success

Portugal----the key here will be for Cristiano not to fall in love with himsefl (which could be tough LOL) and play more as a team, they are my longshot and they are Brazil's MOTHERLAND so they know a little about playing soccer

It is showtime now. Here we go with the 3 futures. First one kicks off tomorrow with Argentina. Spain and Porutgal still play their first game a few days away. Best of luck.

Argentina takes the opener 1-0, yeahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Portugal and Spain play Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, There could be a scenario where Spain and Portugal would play each other in the Round of 16 if Spain finishes first and Portugal finsihes 2nd, hopefully Portugal will win their group and eliminate that possibility------as far as Argentina they looked real good, Messi had a ridiculous 8 shots (something like that), he didn't score, but this guy is flat-out entertaining, the fact that he got 8 shots shows you how great he really is, it will only be a matter of time,

Now its time for Portugal and Spain to take care of business, Portugal will get tested by Ivoy Coast, hopefully they get it done

Futures on Spain, Argentina, and Portugal to win it all as posted weeks ago

Right now (in my opinion), Germany and Brazil are the only two teams in my way, nobody else scares me, the Dutch (maybe), I'm not afraid of France, England, and Italy (other contenders odds-wise) for the futures

futures update to win the entire World Cup posted in May (Portugal, Spain, Argentina to win it all)--------Portugal ties in the opener, Cristiano Ronaldo was embarassing the way he kept flopping like Vlade Divac, I'll take the tie, I guess, Hopefully, he will get his act together, Spain plays tomorrow, I"m expecting them to pound Switzerland, but a 1 goal win will do, anything less than 3 points tomorrow for Spain would be very, very disappointing, they should get it done, they have lots of experience playing with each other

best of luck

futures update----------each team has played once, Argetina won, Portugal tied, Spain lost (not a misprint LOL), Spain dominated the possession and the Swiss had a few counterchances and took full advantage of them, I think Spain can recover though since their group is weak, pressure is on them now though, hopefully, they get to the Round of 16 and face Brazil, believe it or not the positive side of this loss today means it is less likely Spain will play Portugal in the Round of 16 which is what I didn't want to happen anyway, Spain's loss helps this come true, I'd rather have Spain play Brazil rather than Spain play Portgual since I have both Spain and Portugal in futures

futures update on Spain, Portugal, and Argentina to win it all as posted here in May

Argentina looked great. There are still some areas of concern on the defensive side, but the firepower they possess is pretty amazing. Spain should abuse Honduras and if they don't then they don't deserve to be there anyway. They should also be able to handle Chile. As far as my longshot Portugal they will have to take care of North Korea which should happen. North Korea should have a letdown after being tied with Brazil at half and then losing, at least that is what I hope. Then maybe Portugal could tie Brazil and be inspired that they are still Brazil's Motherland LOL

I know Messi hasn't scored yet, but I've been very, very impressed with him the first two games. He definitely set up that one goal with his two shots and then Higuain got the easy rebound put back. He is one of those players that is must-see TV when he touches the ball.

Best of luck.

fuutres update on Spain, Portugal, and Argentina to win it all as posted here in May

-------------Brazil wins? Why is this significant? I can have Brazil finish 1st and Spain finish 2nd and Portugal finish 2nd so this means I can get a scenario where Spain and Portugal don't have to play each other in the Round of 16, thus Spain's early loss could help me, Spain should abuse Honduras tomorrow, Portugal should be able to handle Kim Jong Il and crew, Argentina will probably play either Mexico or Uruguay in the Round of 16 and they should be able to advance, It is good to see France and England struggling so far since they were contenders along with Italy and Germany (who both have work to do), Brazil is my biggest threat and I want Spain to play them in the Round of 16 since they have the talent level all across their team,

so tomorrow It's Portugal and Spain time and then Argentina time on Tuesday

best of luck
